In a comfortable setting we’ll watch and discuss some pressing issues of our times. 23 OCTOBER 2011: Taste the Waste
A film by Valentin Thurn about the worldwide destruction of food. Why do we throw away so much? And how can we stop this kind of waste? Daniela Bershan, artist & researcher who created the organic and sculptural K-Tuin on FATFORM this summer, will get into the sustainability issue with us.
Brazilian artist Carlos Antonio de Mattos a.k.a. Tantao will exhibit some of his fresh drawings and paintings on these last sundays of the season. Tantao was part of the first FATFORM edition in 2010 and decided to come back to the Bijlmer. IT WOULD NOT CARRY SUCH GRACE IF IT WERE NOT DESIRABLE, a solo presentation by Bas de Boer, will show several paintings of recent years as well as a new installation never exhibited before. Partly inspired by the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, De Boer has worked for several months on his biggest installation to date. This dynamic work is sure to make an impression with its 360 degrees video projections, and smoke and paint spitting devices. An apocalyptic-looking machine of entropy in which everything is trapped and forced to rotate towards a black hole… and its inescapable demise.
